Enclosed please find"Response Spectra Comparison" graph and digitized information used to plot the Cornell/Mcguire (C/M)curve.This comparison shows the Nine Mile Point Unit 1 original response spectra ("Housner Spectra")and a C/M spectra.It is our opinion that it would be prudent to use the C/M response spectra for new seismic designs.Therefore, Sargent 8 Lundy shall use this C/M response spectra to deve'lop the required amplified response spectra for the tank and piping designs.The curves shown were developed using five percent damping.Damping values to be used can be based on the guidance given in ASCE Standard 4-86,"Seismic Analysis of Safety Related Nuclear Structures...", Section 3.3.-Soil Structure Interaction.
