The tank will be located. in the vicin'ity of diesel generator building and buried underground. The tank shall be of dual wall construction with the outer shell wrapping the lower 300 degrees of the inner tank for leakage monitoring. The outer shell shall not be considered as a load resisting element.

- 6. Nozzles: Shall welded using 5/16" continuous filletbeweld.
- 7. Manhole: Shall be welded using 5/16" continuous weld on each face of the tank. 'illet
- 8. Tank Welds: Longitudinal direction welds.are full penetration; circumferential direction welds are partial penetration.

- b. Non safety-related structural fill using granular material shall be used above the spring line. Thickness of layers and compaction procedure shall be the same for this fill lower region.

The tank will be located in the vicinity of diesel generator building and buried underground. The tank shall be of dual wall construction with the outer shell wrapping the lower 300 degrees of the inner tank for leakage monitoring. The outer shell shall not be considered as a load resisting element.

Bracing Connection: per detail B-2 of UL-58. The weld shall be 3/16" fillet weld, 1" at ends, 6" C/C staggered( continuous around the ends.
- 6. Nozzles: Shall welded using 5/16" continuous filletbeweld.
- 7. Manhole: Shall welded using 5/16" continuous filletbeweld on each face of the tank.
- 8. Tank Welds: Longitudinal direction welds-are full penetration; circumferential direction welds are partial penetration.
9 ~ Corrosion allowance: 1/16" The following documents/basis was used for the design:

Enclosed please find "Response Spectra Comparison" graph and digitized information used to plot the Cornell/Mcguire (C/M) curve. This comparison shows the Nine Mile Point Unit 1 original response spectra ("Housner Spectra" )
and a C/M spectra. It is our opinion that it would be prudent to use the C/M response spectra for new seismic designs. Therefore, Sargent 8 Lundy shall use this C/M response spectra to deve'lop the required amplified response spectra for the tank and piping designs.
The curves shown were developed using five percent damping. Damping values to be used can be based on the guidance given in ASCE Standard 4-86, "Seismic Analysis of Safety Related Nuclear Structures...", Section 3 .3. - Soil Structure Interaction.
