- Notification of Unusual Event On Wednesday, March 1,1995, at approximately 0345 hours0.00399 days <br />0.0958 hours <br />5.704365e-4 weeks <br />1.312725e-4 months <br />, a Notification of Unusual _ i Event (NOUE) was declared in accordance with Emergency Plan Implementing Procedure EC .

02, EMERGENCY CLASSIFICATIONS. This procedure requires that a Notification ~of Unusual 1  !

Event be declared for a fire within the Plant lasting more than 10 minutes.

Clinton Power Station was operating at approximately 75% when a fire was reported in . ,

. the "A" Turbine-Driven Reacor Feed Pump (TDRFP) room. The fire brigade was activM and .

responded. The fire was due to overheating of the insulation on the "A" TDRFP. The Shu Supervisor then declared the NOUE. No offsite fire departments were notified or responded.  :

The State ofIllinois was notified at approximately 0352 hours0.00407 days <br />0.0978 hours <br />5.820106e-4 weeks <br />1.33936e-4 months <br /> and the NRC Incident Response Center was notified at approximately 0402 hours0.00465 days <br />0.112 hours <br />6.646825e-4 weeks <br />1.52961e-4 months <br />. Power was reduced to approximately 60%.

Due to heavy smoke in the area, piping insulation was removed to try to deternime ,

whether or not an oil leak existed. No oil leak was detected. Apparently the insultation material j became hot due to the turbine being loaded more than usual._ The fire was reported out at . .
