Subject:

Spent Fuel Storage Radioactive Effluent Release Report for 2020 River Bend Station - Unit 1 NRC Docket Nos. 50-458 Renewed Facility Operating License No. NPF-47 River Bend Station (RBS) Certificate of Compliance for Spent Fuel Storage Casks (CoC) 5.4, requires the submittal of an Annual Radioactive Effluent Release Report. 10 CFR 72.44(d)(3) also requires the annual submittal of a summary of effluents from the independent spent fuel storage facility. The purpose of this letter is to fulfill these reporting requirements for the 2020 calendar year at RBS.

The Hl-STORM 100 Cask System does not create any radioactive materials or have any radioactive waste treatment systems. There is no gaseous or liquid pathway attributed to the spent fuel stored in the independent spent fuel storage installation (lSFSl). Therefore, there were no radionuclides released to the environment in liquid or gaseous effluents during the previous 12 months of operation. Dose due to direct radiation from lSFSl operations and from other uranium fuel cycle operations in the area was also reviewed. In 2020, no additional dry fuel storage casks were placed in service at the Independent Spent Fuel Storage Installation (lSFSl). Radiation Protection radiological surveys (RBS-005-00142, RBS-2101-00316),

Environmental TLD surveillance data (REMP 2 per ESP-8-050, Conduct of the Radiological Environmental Monitoring Program (REMP) and EN-CY-130-03, Radiological Environmental Monitoring Program (REMP) - River Bend Station), area Optically Stimulated Luminescent Dosimetry (OSLD) results per EN-RP-210, Area Monitoring Program, and current radiological postings were reviewed and demonstrate that there was no impact to members of the public from the dry fuel storage in 2020 and the limits of 10 CFR 72.104 were met.

There are no commitments in this letter.
