Subject:
Spent Fuel Storage Radioactive Effluent Release Report for 2017 River Bend Station - Unit 1 License No. NPF-47 Docket No. 50-458
Dear Sir or Madam:
River Bend Station (RBS) Certificate of Compliance for Spent Fuel Storage Casks (CoC) 5.4, requires the submittal of an Annual Radioactive Effluent Release Report. 10CFR72.44(d)(3) also requires the annual submittal of a summary of effluents from the independent spent fuel storage facility. The purpose of this letter is to fulfill these reporting requirements for the 2017 calendar year at RBS.
The HI-STORM 100 Cask System does not create any radioactive materials or have any radioactive waste treatment systems. There is no gaseous or liquid pathway attributed to the spent fuel stored in the independent spent fuel storage installation. Radiation Protection radiological surveys and current postings were reviewed and demonstrate that there is no impact to members of the public from the dry fuel storage in 2017. Environmental TLD data for 2017 was reviewed and it also does not show any impact to members of the public from dry fuel storage in 2017. Therefore, there were no radionuclides released to the environment in liquid or gaseous effluents during the previous 12 months of operation.
There are no commitments in this letter.
If you have any questions or require additional information, please contact me.
Sincerely, TAS/alc
