Victor Dricks (817) 860-8128 E-Mail: opa4@nrc.gov Lara Uselding (817) 276-6519 NRC NAMES NEW SENIOR RESIDENT INSPECTOR AT PALO VERDE NUCLEAR POWER PLANT The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission has selected Tony Brown as the new senior resident inspector at the Palo Verde Nuclear power plant located 60 miles west of Phoenix, Ariz.

Tony Browns background and regulatory experience will assist the NRC in carrying out its mission of protecting people and the environment and ensuring the safe operation of nuclear power plants, said NRC Region IV Administrator Elmo E. Collins.

Brown joined the NRC in 2004 and most recently was the resident inspector at the Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant. He began his career as an electronics technician in the U.S. Navy and became a division officer onboard the USS Oklahoma City submarine in Norfolk, Va.

Brown holds a masters degree in engineering management from Old Dominion University and a bachelors degree in bioenvironmental science from Texas A&M University. He also has a certificate in Advanced International Affairs from Texas A&Ms Bush School of Government and Public Service. Brown is currently a lieutenant commander in the U.S. Navy Reserves.

Each U.S. commercial nuclear power plant site has at least two NRC resident inspectors.

Brown joins resident inspectors Mica Baquera and Joseph Bashore. They serve as the agencys eyes and ears at the facility, conducting inspections and monitoring significant work projects.
