NRC ADVISORY COMMITTEE ON REACTOR SAFEGUARDS TO MEET MARCH 6-8 The Nuclear Regulatory Commission's Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards (ACRS) has scheduled a technical meeting March 6-8 in Rockville, Maryland.

The meeting, which is open to the public, will be held in Conference Room 2B3 in the NRC's Two White Flint North Building at 11545 Rockville Pike.

Although meetings of the ACRS are open, they are not part of the NRC's public hearing process. The ACRS, an advisory group to the Commission, conducts independent, highly technical reviews of safety considerations related to nuclear facilities. While anyone may attend, the committee will consider only oral or written statements arranged in advance and limited to specific matters set forth in a Notice of Meeting published in the Federal Register February 20.

The meeting may include closed sessions, if required, to discuss proprietary information.

Here is the complete meeting agenda:

THURSDAY, MARCH 6 8:30 to 8:45 a.m. -- Opening remarks by the ACRS chairman.

8:45 - 11:45 a.m. -- Discussions with the NRC staff regarding the capability of the computer models to assess the Westinghouse AP600 reactor design. Representatives of the Westinghouse Electric Corp. will participate as appropriate.

11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. -- Discussions with the NRC staff and Westinghouse on issues associated with release of test data from ROSA Test Facility to the public.

1:30 to 3:00 p.m. -- Briefing from NRC staff on results of Arthur Andersen study of the Senior Management Meeting Watch List process.

3:15 to 4:45 p.m. -- Briefing and discussions with NRC staff on risk-informed, performance-based regulation.

5:00 to 7:45 p.m. -- Preparation of ACRS reports.

FRIDAY, MARCH 7 8:35 to 9:45 a.m. -- Briefing by and discussions with NRC staff on the results of the Independent Safety Assessment of the Maine Yankee Atomic Power Station.

9:45 a.m. to 12:35 p.m. -- Discussions with the Chairman of the National Academy of Sciences/National Research Council Committee on digital instrumentation and control systems.

1:30 to 2:30 p.m. -- Briefing by and discussions with representatives of the Department of Energy on tritium production.

2:30 to 3:00 p.m. -- Discussion of future ACRS activities.

3:00 to 3:15 p.m. Discussions of responses from the NRC Executive Director for Operations on comments and recommendations in recent ACRS reports.

3:30 to 7:15 p.m. -- Preparation of ACRS reports.

SATURDAY, MARCH 8 8:30 to 9:00 a.m. -- Report of the Planning and procedures Subcommittee.

9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. -- Preparation of ACRS reports.

1:00 to 7:00 p.m. -- Strategic planning.
