NRC ADVISORY COMMITTEE ON REACTOR SAFEGUARDS TO MEET NOVEMBER 7-9 The Nuclear Regulatory Commission's Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards (ACRS) has scheduled a technical meeting November 7-9 in Rockville, Maryland.

The meeting, which is open to the public, will be held in Conference Room 2B3 in the NRC's Two White Flint North Building at 11545 Rockville Pike.

Although meetings of the ACRS are open, they are not part of the NRC's public hearing process. The ACRS, an advisory group to the Commission, conducts independent, highly technical reviews of safety considerations related to nuclear facilities. While anyone may attend, the committee will consider only oral or written statements arranged in advance and limited to specific matters set forth in a Notice of Meeting published in the October 25 edition of the Federal Register.

The meeting may include closed sessions, if required, to discuss proprietary information.

The complete meeting agenda follows:

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 7 8:30 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. -- Opening remarks by the ACRS chairman.

8:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. -- Discussion with NRC staff, Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) and Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) regarding the proposed rule on steam generator integrity and an associated regulatory guide.

11:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. -- Discussion with NRC staff on risk-based analysis of reactor operating experience.

1:15 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. -- Discussion with NRC staff and representatives of Entergy Operations, Inc., EPRI and NEI regarding the use of revised source term for operating plants and the NRC's proposed approach for reviewing license amendments.

3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. -- Discussion with NRC staff on emergency planning for advanced reactors.

4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. -- Discussion of proposed ACRS reports.

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 8 8:35 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. -- Report of the ACRS planning and procedures subcommittee on future ACRS activities.

9:00 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. -- Reconciliation of ACRS comments and recommendations.

9:15 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. -- Report of the planning and procedures subcommittee.

10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. -- Discussion with NRC staff on findings and recommendations of the Augmented Inspection Team report on Haddam Neck.

11:00 to 12:30 p.m. -- Discussion of the format and content of the Annual ACRS Report to Congress.

1:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Preparation of ACRS reports.

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 9 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. -- Preparation of ACRs reports.

12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. -- Strategic planning session.
