The Nuclear Regulatory Commissions Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards (ACRS) will hold a public meeting April 8-10 in Rockville, Md., to discuss several issues of interest. Topics include: a review of interim staff guidance addressing post-combined license commitments for new reactors, a safety evaluation report with open items associated with the review of the U.S. Evolutionary Power Reactor design certification application, and the applicability of General Electric's methods to include a new fuel design (GNF2).

The ACRS, a group of experienced technical experts, advises the Commission independently from the NRC staff on safety issues related to the licensing and operation of nuclear power plants. It also advises the Commission on issues in health physics and radiation protection.

The meeting will be held in Room T2-B1 in the Two White Flint North building at NRC Headquarters at 11545 Rockville Pike, Rockville, Md. The sessions on Thursday, April 8, and Friday, April 9, will run from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., and on Saturday, April 10, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Portions of the meeting may be closed to discuss information that includes classified, proprietary, organizational or personnel matters.

A complete agenda is available on the NRCs Web site at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/doc-collections/acrs/agenda/2010/.

Anyone with questions or those wanting to make public statements during the meeting should contact Derek Widmayer, at (301) 415-7366. For video conferencing services, contact Theron Brown, at (301) 415-8066.
