A Southern Nuclear Regulatory Affairs 3535 Colonnade Parkway Birmingham , AL 35243 205 992 5000 tel 205 992 7795 fa x December 2, 2019 Docket No.: 50-321 NL-19-1471 U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission ATTN : Document Control Desk Washington , D. C. 20555-0001 Edwin I. Hatch Nuclear Plant Unit 1 Withdrawal of Emergency License Amendment Request for Technical Specification 3.7.1 Regarding One-Time Extension of Completion Time for RHRSW Pump Inoperable Ladies and Gentlemen:

In letter NL 1455, dated November 29, 2019, Southern Nuclear Operating Company (SNC) submitted a request for a proposed emergency license amendment to the Technical Specifications (TS) for Hatch Nuclear Plant (HNP) Unit 1 renewed facility operating license DPR-57. The proposed amendment would have revised TS 3.7.1, "Residual Heat Removal Service Water (RHRSW) System ," Condition A , "One RHRSW pump inoperable," to allow a one-time increase in the Completion Time from 30 days to 45 days.

Subsequent to the submittal , HNP personnel were able to complete the necessary repairs of the 1B RHRSW pump and return it to Operable condition within the original completion time for Condition A and thus there is no longer a need for an extension of the completion time .

Therefore , SNC hereby withdraws the subject request for an emergency license amendment for HNP Unit 1 TS 3.7.1.

In accordance with 10 CFR 50.91 , SNC is notifying the State of Georgia of the withdrawal of this license amendment request by transmitting a copy of this letter to the designated State Official.

This letter contains no NRC commitments . If you have any questions, please contact Jamie Coleman at 205.992 .6611.

Respectfully submitted ,

C. A. Gay a Director, Regulatory Affairs Southern Nuclear Operating Company
