Ladies and Gentlemen:

Pursuant to Condition 2.C.(5) of the Joseph M. Farley Nuclear Plant (FNP) Unit 1 Renewed Facility Operating License NPF-2, which was issued per Reference 2, Southern Nuclear Operating Company (SNC) confirms that FNP Unit 1 license renewal commitments of Reference 1, required to be implemented no later than June 25, 2017 and prior to entry into the period of extended operation (PEO), are complete and can be verified by NRC inspection.

Commitment number 12 from Reference 1 was to implement the Non-EO Cables Program prior to the PEO, in accordance with sections X1.E1 and X1.E3 of NUREG-1801. Per EPRI guidance, the seeping included a cable for a blackout recovery function. Plant Farley design has redundancy for this cable. The cable originally scheduled to be tested for this function is carrying the switchyard loads. Because of the risk to plant operation of transferring loads to the redundant cable, the inspection schedule was revised and the redundant cable was tested prior to PEO. The cable originally scheduled for testing will be tested prior to the end of 2017. This change was captured in the Corrective Action Program as CR 10378523.

Commitment 12 is complete.

This letter contains no new NRC commitments. If you have any questions, please contact Elizabeth Williford at 334.814.4765.

Respectfully submitted,
