The Federal Government was shut down from October 1 through November 12, 2025, resulting in a temporary suspension of most regulatory review activities at the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) in accordance with Management Directive 4.5, Contingency Plan for Periods of Lapsed Appropriations. As a result, the NRC is assessing the schedule impacts for all licensing actions.
The purpose of this email is to inform you that following its assessment, the NRC has determined the licensing actions listed in the following table have been impacted and will not be completed by the estimated completion dates provided to you previously under Section 107(g)(1)(B) of the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969, as Amended (NEPA). The table provides the NRCs revised estimated completion dates for these actions. This notice constitutes the NRC staffs consultation with OPPD regarding the EA deadline consistent with Section 107(g)(2) of NEPA.
These revised estimated completion dates could change due to several factors including requests for additional information and unanticipated addition of the review scope (e.g., regulatory audit). If emergent complexities or challenges arise that would result in a change to the estimated completion date or significant changes in the estimated hours, the reasons for the change, and a revised estimate will be communicated during routine interactions with the assigned licensing project manager(s) and documented.
