Response to SDAA Audit Question Question Number: A-3.9.2-13 Receipt Date: 08/28/2023 Question:
This request is a follow-on from audit item A-3.9.2-8 (1) (d): Explain the design difference for the reflector blocks between US600 and US460.
Response
For the US600 approved design certification (DCA), the reflector blocks rested on the lower core plate and were not restrained, or prevented from vertical, upward direction movement. For the US460 standard design approval application (SDAA), restraining pins, extending through the core barrel and into each reflector block, are added to the core support assembly design to prevent vertical, upward movement of the reflector blocks (i.e., along the core barrel axis) during a seismic or dynamic event.
No changes to the SDAA are necessary.
