ISSUANCE OF ENVIRONMENTAL SCOPING
SUMMARY
REPORT ASSOCIATED WITH THE STAFFS REVIEW OF THE COMANCHE PEAK NUCLEAR POWER PLANT, UNIT NOS. 1 AND 2, LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION (EPID NO. L-2022-LNE-0004)
Dear Ken J. Peters:
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) conducted the environmental scoping process and solicited public comments from December 13, 2022, to March 13, 2023 (87 FR 76220 and 88 FR 10940). This process determined the scope of the staffs environmental review of the application for renewal of the renewed facility operating licenses for Comanche Nuclear Power Plant, Unit Nos. 1 and 2, (CPNPP). The scoping process is the first step in the development of a CPNPP-specific supplement to NUREG-1437, Generic Environmental Impact Statement for License Renewal of Nuclear Plants (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) ML13106A241, ML13106A242, and ML13106A244).
As part of the scoping process, the staff held a webinar on January 17, 2023 (ML23031A096) and a public environmental scoping meeting in Somervell County, TX, on February 23, 2023 (ML23081A508), to solicit public input regarding the scope of the review. The staff also received written comments by letter, email, and through www.Regulations.gov. At the conclusion of the scoping process, the staff prepared the enclosed environmental scoping summary report identifying comments received during the scoping period. In accordance with Section 51.29(b) of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations, the staff will send a copy of the scoping summary report to all participants in the scoping process.
The transcripts of the public scoping meetings are available for public inspection via the NRCs ADAMS from any personal or public computer, including the NRC Public Document Room (PDR), located at One White Flint North, 11555 Rockville Pike, Rockville, Maryland 20852. The ADAMS Public Electronic Reading Room is accessible at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html. The transcript of the meeting is listed under ADAMS Accession No. ML23031A096 and ML23081A508. Persons who encounter problems in accessing documents in ADAMS should contact the NRC's PDR reference staff by telephone at 1-800-397-4209 or 301-415-4737 or via email at pdr.resource@nrc.gov.
