HI-STORM FW Amendment 8 Request

Dear Mr. McKirgan:

Holtec International herein submits a request to amend Certificate of Compliance (CoC) 72-1032 for the HI-STORM FW Multipurpose Canister Storage System. The proposed changes include an update to the description of the HI-STORM FW system in the CoC to clearly indicate that only the portions of the components that come into contact with the pool water need to be made of stainless steel or aluminum.

A summary of all of the proposed changes (SOPC), with more detailed description of the changes, reason for the changes and justification for the changes, is provided in Attachment 1. Attachment 2 contains proposed changes for the CoC. No changes are proposed for the CoC Appendices. provides the proposed changed page of the HI-STORM FW FSAR which supports this LAR. All proposed changes in Attachments 2 and 3 are provided in mark-up format to facilitate the Staffs review.

The proposed changes in Attachments 2 and 3 are based on the Holtec Responses to HI-STORM FW Amendment 6 Requests for Additional Information (ADAMS Accension No. ML20356A328) and the most recent FSAR Revision 9, respectively. While an Amendment 7 LAR has been submitted (ADAMS Accension No. ML21126A266) it is anticipated that the brevity of the proposed changes in this Amendment 8 request will allow Amendment 8 to be approved before Amendment 7.
