REQUEST FOR CERTIFICATE OF COMPLIANCE FOR THE MODEL NOS. TN EAGLE-STC SC AND TN EAGLE-STC LC - ACCEPTANCE FOR REVIEW

Dear Mr. Narayanan:

By letter dated December 30, 2020 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML20365A018), as supplemented on April 29, 2021 (ADAMS Accession No. ML21119A307), TN Americas LLC submitted an application for a certificate of compliance for the Model Nos. TN Eagle-STC SC and TN Eagle-STC LC spent fuel packages.

The TN Eagle-STC includes two overpack designs, one for the standard canister (SC) and the large canister (LC) and nine different canister designs. Staff performed an acceptance review of your application to determine whether it contains sufficient technical information in scope and depth to allow the staff to complete a detailed technical review.

This letter is to advise you that, based on our acceptance review, the application contains sufficient technical information. We established a schedule for the technical review of your amendment request. The schedule allows for the staff to issue a possible request for additional information by in the second week of November 2021, and, if no additional information is needed, the certificate of compliance and safety evaluation report will be issued by mid-June 2022, based on you responding to the request for additional information by mid-January 2022.

The staff estimates that completing the safety review of this application will require approximately 2250 staff hours and $100,000 in contractor costs.
