Dear Mr. Sieber:

EJordan l

SUBJECT:

BEAVER VALLEY UNIT 1 & 2 - ACCEPTANCE OF THE OFFSITE DOSE CALCULATION MANUALS (TAC 63996 AND 67421)

The Offsite Dose Calculation Manuals (030a) of both units were found I

acceptable by us (letter transmitting Aceadment No. 66 dated March 28, 1983 and letter dated July 14,1987). By letter dated February 25, 1988 you submitted revised versions of each ODCM:

Issue 2, Revision 0 for Unit 1 and i

Issue 1, Revision 1 for Unit 2.

Each of these documents became effective July 24, 1987.

We have completed review of your revised ODCMs and results are documented in our contractor's technical evaluation report EGG-PHY-8194 and EGG-PHY-8217 (accession numbers 8902170169and8902170175). These reports are incorporated by reference. We agree with the contractor's statement that your ODCMs are well written and are acceptable for use in demonstrating compliance j

with the radiological effluent technical specifications.

We do have a few minor concerns and these are delineated in Sections 4 of each technical evaluation report. You should consider these comments for future ODCM revisions. However, the present versions of your ODCMs, as submitted by your February 25, 1988 letter, are acceptable as stated above. This completes our efforts. Our reviewer was W. Wayne Meinke.

Sincerely,

acA n
