Subject:

Possible Economy in Final Rule to Discontinue LPDRs l'

The following suggestion is made as an NRC employee not as a legal matter.

l 1 would suggest that you take advantage of the publication of this rule to extend filing possibilities to include filing by e-mail. (See e g. revision of Section 2.206 paragraph (a) at page 14 of the draft rule

- circulated by you on December 30,1998). If the agency is not ready to accept an e-mail filing as the official filing, you could use this opportunity to request that all filings made by delivery to NRC PDR also be delivered in e-mail form to facilitate (or expedite) their availability electronically. l It seems to me that significant savings in employee hours and reproduction facilities would occur from '

requesting as soon as possible that those who have the document in electronic form pass it along to us in that form in addition to or possibly instead of any other filing.-

Thank you for your consideration of this suggestion. Marjorie S. Nordlinger CC: JaF, Russell Powell i
