DIFFERING PROFESSIONAL OPINION CONCERNING TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION SET POINTS AND ALLOWABLE VALUES FOR ;
s INSTRUMENTATION l In accordance with the provisions of Management Directive 10.159, you are appointed to serve as members of an ad hoc panel to review the Differing Professional Opinion (DPO) concerning
' the use of Allowable Values to determine operability for safety-related instrumentation channels in lieu of channel trip SET POINTS in Technical Specifications. In all respects, the review performed by the panel is to be in accordance with the Management Directive. Ms Federline is appointed as chair of the panel. In that capacity, she is to appoint the third member of the panel.
Attached is the memorandum to me from Frederick H. Burrows dated August 5,1998, which describes the concems in this area and provides a suggestion for the third member of the panel, a name that the chairman should consider Other documents concoming this DPO will be provided to you by Jocelyn Mitchell of my office, who will be your point of contact.
Please advise me, with a copy to Mr. Burrows, of your proposed schedule for your review.
