( LIMITATIONS:

  • 1. Electrode negative (straight polarity) may be used for the first pass when welding the A588 material to the A618 material.
2. Use only stainless brushes on the stainless steel material.
3. No flame cutting is permitted on tne stainless steel material.
4. For plate thicknesses greater than 5/8", vertical passes shall be uphill except root passes and cover passes may be uphill or downhill. For pl .e thicknesses of 5/8" or less, vertical passes may be deposited uphill or downhill.
5. Nonmetallic or nonfusing metal retainers are not to be used.
6. No supplemental filler metal is to be used.
7. Welding of A36 material together shall be limited to a maximum thicknen of 5/8".
8. Maximum pass thickness in welds greater than 5/8" thick shall not exceed approximately 1/4". .
9. Welding of the A618 material to the A588 material shall be limited to -

maximum thickness of 1", and the ma::Imum electrode diameter to be used is 5/32"0.
