SOUTH CAROLINA'S RESPONSE TO THE SILLING REPORT ON HDPE HIC'S Enclosed is letter dated June 29, 1988 to me from Heyward Shealy, Chief -
of the South Carolina Bureau of Radiological Health. In this letter, several questions and coments have been raised concerning the Silling Report entitled, "Review of the Structural Design of Polyethylene High Integrity Containers." In addition, South Carolina states in this letter that they do not believe that the Silling's report confirms any inadequacy in terms of the use of polyethylene HIC's for low-level waste disposal.
The State of South Carolina would like a response from us on the coments and questions thty have raised. Therefore, we would appreciate your views on this matter by August 15, 1988.
