James M. Taylor, Deputy Executive Director for Regicnal Operations
SUBJECT:
1987 ANNUAL ASSESSMENT REPORT ON IMPLEMENTATION OF REGIONAL SAFEGUARDS CASE REVIEW AND ROUTE SURVEY RESPONSIBILITIES A memorandum transmitting the annual assessment reports on implementation of regional safeguards case review and route survey responsibilities was sent from H.L. Thompson and T.E. Murley to the Executive Director for Operations on July 7, 1987. This memorandum provided the highlights of these assessments and the following recomended actions to improve the efficiency of operations:
Region III staff using Displaywriter 2, constructed stripcharts and other survey documentations that could be sent by personal computers to headquarters and other regions.
The use of this program simplified the route survey documentation and updating process.
Region V has initiated an internal audit of the safeguards licensing activities as part of a regional quality control check of internal programs.
The audit of the safeguards program was in depth and complete. This initiative should help maintain the continued high quality perfonnance of the staff.
I1 These recomendations should be considered for implementation in each region, r
