DSAR-12.2 Information Use Page 3 of 5 Training Rev. 0 12.2 Training 12.2.1 Deleted 12.2.2 Deleted 12.2.3 SAFSTOR 12.2.3.1 Purpose The purpose for ongoing training at Fort Calhoun Unit No. 1 is to develop and maintain an organization qualified to be responsible for the monitoring, handling, storage, and cooling of spent nuclear fuel and other assigned tasks safely and efficiently. The overall training program consists of three types: General Employee Training, Group Training and Special Training.

12.2.3.2 General Employee Training Personnel participate in the General Employee Training prior to starting work at Fort Calhoun and then are retrained at specific intervals thereafter. The purpose of the General Employee Training is to indoctrinate Fort Calhoun Plant Staff in the general procedures utilized to assure nuclear plant safety and personnel safety.

12.2.3.3 Group Training Following completion of the initial General Employee Training, personnel participate in Group Training in order to assure that suitable job proficiency is achieved and maintained. Following the initial training, retraining is done on a recurring basis to maintain and upgrade job proficiency. The following are the specific groups and personnel types assigned to each.

DSAR-12.2 Information Use Page 4 of 5 Training Rev. 0 Technical Group Station Engineers Nuclear Oversight Group Nuclear Auditor Nuclear Assessor Chemistry And Radiation Protection Group Chemistry/Radiation Protection Technicians Security Group Security Forces 12.2.3.4 Special Training The objective of the Special Training programs is to develop the proficiency of applicable personnel. Areas of Special Training include:

1) Instruction of personnel with respect to the performance of specific duties assigned to them in the emergency plan.
2) Training of firefighting response unit.
3) Asbestos Training 12.2.4 Corporate Training and Safety Program The Corporate Training and Safety Program supplement the Fort Calhoun Unit No. 1 training programs. This training covers Industrial/General Safety and First Aid.

The Licensed Operator Training Program was provided to the Commission in a letter from W. C. Jones (OPPD) to Mr. Paul F. Collins, Chief, Operator License Branch, U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission dated July 25, 1980. It has since been superseded by a letter from R. L. Andrews (OPPD) to Mr. John Hannon, Chief, Operator Licensing, U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, dated October 8, 1987. The Licensed Operator Training Program has been removed by Amendment 292 and was replaced by a Certified Fuel Handler Training Program approved by Letter NRC-17-034 dated June 21, 2017
