The attached material deals with (a) ravel from Columbus ashington, D. C., and return on Novem er 3-5,1982;(b) travel from Cincinnati, Ohio, to Washington, D.C. and eturn on November -9,1982; and, (c) NRC's handling of the expenses incurred in connection with this travel.
On its face alone, the doenmentation attached indicates that, hRC's actions in f
this matter were at best appalling and at worst illegal.
Furthermore, the documentation raises many uestions which an only be answered by further investigation.
In view o allegations against me I believe it would be inappropriate for me to become involved in this case and I have therefore assigned the matter to the Deputy Director, OIA, with the strict direction that he is not to in any way discuss this matter with me but rather report his findings directly to the Comission as soon as possible.
Parenthetically, I would note that this is precisely the type of case which I believe would have been brought to OIA's attention when it occurred - eight months ago - had the NRC a well publicized hotline reporting system.
