results of the inspections of stateet. Drass67 097p1104 safety valves froe three different plants. Two of the five seat bushings tros the Oyster Creek valves showed crack indications on their outer ditmeters (this area is esposed to prismery systeo stear). Microprobe analysis showed chlorides in the range of 100-1,000 pre. The ocurce of the chlorides is not identified. The complete f ailure of a seat bushing would result in en accident similar to that of a safety valve lif ting and failing to close (a steem break accident).
The Division of Compliance reported on these cracks at the 145th Acts meeting (Kay, 1972).
