CORRECTION TO A NOTICE OF VIOLATION (NRC ROUTINE INSPECTION REPORT NO. 50-306/97002(DRP))
Dear Mr. Wadley:

This refers to a letter to you from our office dated April 30,1997, enclosing a Notice of Violation for moving a heavy load of greater than 2100 pounds within 15 horizontal feet over irradiated fuel that was in an open reactor vessel without the appropriate controls.
Subsequent to issuing this Notice of Violation, an error was identified in the footnote on the second page of the letter. Specifically, we indicated that two escalated enforcement actions had been issued within the last two years. However, only one escalated enforcement action was issued for Prairie Island during this time period. The corrected footnote will now read, "A Severity Level ll1 violation with a $50,000 civil penalty was issued on January 23,1997 (EA 96-402)." The corrected page is enclosed.
This error does not alter the fact that your facility has been the subject of escalated enforcement actions during the last two years. As such, the enforcement action will
