In Reference (1) Commonwealth Edison Cunpany (Comed) provided the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Staff with Revision 5 to the Byron /Braidwood Stations Updated Final Safety Analysis Report (UFSAR). Previously, Title 10, Code of Federal q
Regulations, Part 50, Section 71, Paragraph (b) Subparagraph (4) [10 CFR 50.71(b)(4)]

burden of government regulation by extending the interval between updates of licensee Final Safety Analysis Reports (FSARs). In Reference (2) the Staff agreed with Comed's proposal to provide updates to the Byron /Braidwood Stations UFSAR to the NRC no later than 24 calendar months from the submittal date of the previous revision.
1 Accordingly, Revision 6 to the Byron /Braidwood Stations UFSAR is enclosed.
The changes included in Revision 6 are changes to the facilities and procedures that were in effect as of June 16,1996.
Attached to this letter is a detailed change log which identifies and explains all changes from Revision 5 of the Byron /Braidwood Stations UFSAR. This is being provided as an aid to the Staff to assist in the review of the changes made.
Pursuant to 10 CFR 50.4(b)(6), one (1) signed original and ten (10) copies are being provided to the Document Control Desk, plus one (1) copy to the NRC Region lll office and one (1) copy each to the Byron and Braidwood Resident inspectors offices.
