In Reference (1) the Commonwealth Edison Company (Comed) provided the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Staff with Amendment 15 to the Byron /Braidwood Stations Fire Protection Report (FPR).
Concurrent with the preparation of that submittal, Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations, Part 50, Section 71, Paragraph (e) Subparagraph (4) [10 CFR 50.71(e) (4)] was revised in response to a federal government initiative to reduce the unnecessary burden of government regulation by extending the interval between updates of licensee Final Safety Analysis Reports (FSARs).
In Reference (2) the Staff agreed with Comed's proposal to provide updates to the Byron /Braidwood Stations Updated Final Safety Analysis Report (UFSAR) to the NRC no later than 24 calendar months from the submittal date of the previous revision.
Since the Byron /Braidwood Stations 1.Li is incorporated by reference into the Byron /Braidwood Stations UFSAR, Chapter 9.5, it is also being updated on a frequency of 24 calendar months from the submittal date of the previous
