Thank you for your letter requesting information.on the status of licensing i
for the Diablo Canyon nuclear power plant.
4 The Comission recently testified before a House subcomittee on licensing. -
j concerns related to Diablo Canyon.
For your infomation, I am enclosing copies of the statements presented by Chairman Palladino and by Harold Denton, Director of the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulatio,n.
i The Comission meeting, referenced in your letter, to discuss and possibly l
vote on a full power operating license for Diablo Canyon Unit I has been l
r,escheduled for Monday, July 30, 1984 This date remains tentative.
f The most recent action taken with respect to Diablo Canyon was a review by l
the independent Advisory Comittee for Reactor Safeguards _of the report of the Diablo Canyon Peer Review Group and of the differing professional opinion I
of NRC staffer Isa Yin.
The results of that review were submitted to the
]
Comission by the ACRS in the enclosed letter dated July 16, 1984.
