Dear Congresswoman Byron:
This is-in response to your request for our consideration of issues raised in correspondence directed to you by an employee of the !!uclear Regulatory Com.ission (NRC) regarding relocation of emaloyees of the NRC from
!'.ontgomery County to a District of Columbia location.
Discussions have been held with the General Services Administration (GSA) to identify potential options for consolidation of !!RC from eleven (11) current building assignments in Bethesda, Rockville, Silver Soring, and the District of Columbia. Hortever, there has been no significant progress toward a cutually acceptable decision regarding these options. Until GSA identifies acceptable space to consolidate the Agency, I exoect no major movecent of I'RC will take place.'
I wish to assure you that any contemplated move of NRC corrjonents vill be motivated by operational efficiency and cost effectiveness. The potential ir: pact of a relocation on NRC staff will be considered carefully during
, evaluation of site options presented to us by GSA.
