March 24, 2020 Ms. Annette Vietti-Cook Secretary of the Commission United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, DC 20555-0001 Attention: Rulemakings and Adjudications Staff Re: Docket Number: NRC-2020-0021

Dear Secretary Vietti-Cook:

On behalf of Safe, Healthy, Affordable, Reliable Energy SHARE, a non-profit coalition of community groups, local chambers of commerce and churches, we write in support of the sale of Indian Point to Holtec International. This transaction will allow the facility to be promptly decommissioned which is in the best interest of New York State and its residents.

Holtec International, and their business partners, have decades of experience providing critical services, including the management of spent fuel, to nuclear power plants around the globe. This experience, combined with their commitment to promptly decommission the facility, will allow the decommissioning process to begin and be completed in 12-15 years.

Alternatively, Entergy would not even begin the process of decommissioning the Indian Point site for 25 years. This is unacceptable as only the timely decommissioning and restoration of the Indian Point site will allow for the potential commercial reuse, resulting in long-term economic growth opportunities such as new jobs and new tax revenue for the community.

For these reasons, SHARE fully supports the sale of Indian Point to Holtec International Inc. as this represents the best option for the plant to be decommissioned in a safe and timely manner, that has the potential to restore long-term economic activity to the site.

Sincerely, Craig Wilson Executive Director SHARE
