TURKEY POINT UNIT NO. 3 O

DOCKET NO. 50-250 REINSPECTION OF HYDRAULIC PIPE RESTRAINTS INACCESSIBLE DURING PONER OPERATION Reinspection of the safety related hydraulic pipe restraints located inside the reactor containment was cosipleted on September 15, 1974.

There were fifty restraints inspected and all are of the Bergen-Paterson design.

One restraint had an indicated fluid level below the minimum allow-able level and was replaced with a apara unit.

Hydraulic fluid was added to four restraints to increase the levels to the recommended values.

The restraint that exhibited the fluid level below the minimum allow-able level was disassembled for further inspection.

Upon disassembly it was determined that the two pieces which comprise the main piston rod packing assembly were partially separated resulting in degrada-tion of the sealing effectiveness of the packing.

None of the seals showed any evidence of material deterioration.

Very truly yours, f) p&
