Pacific Gas and Electric Company Semimonthly Report No. 30 Diablo Canyon Verification Program January 28, 1983

SUMMARY

This is PGandE's thirtieth Semimonthly Status Report which summarizes the progress of our design verification program from January 11, 1983, through January 24, 1983.

The Teledyne Engineering Services (TES) Independent Design Verification Program (Independent Program or IDVP) has identified 293 items to date. Of the 293 items,184 completion reports (164 Phase I, 20 Phase II and CQA) have been issued, 77 (27 Phase I, 50 Phase II and CQA) require action by PGandE, and 32 (3 Phase I, 29 Phase II and CQA) require action by the Independent Program.

PGandE's Internal Technical Program has identified to date a total of 34 items. To date, six of the 34 items have been closed by PGandE.

STATUS OF INDEPENDENT PROGRAM l This section provides the status of items identified in the Independent Program.

I. Status Of Independent Program Items A. Phase I The items identified by the Independent Program are described in appropriate Independent Program progress reports. A list of the Independent Program items is given in Attachment I, together with a brief indication of the status of each item. A summary of Attachment I is given in Table 1. In addition, Attachment IA indicates the Project status, including the expected Project resolution date, for each of the items that have not been issued as a Completion Reporb B. Phase II and Construction QA The Independent Program has identified certain items related to Phase II. These items are listed in Attachment II with file nunbers in the 6000 and 8000 series. Further, R. F. Reedy has identified certain items as a result of its Phase II quality assurance (QA) verification efforts. These items are listed in Attachment II with file numbers in the 7000 series. In addition, Attachment IIA indicates the Project status, including the expected Project resolution date, for each of the items that have not been issued as a Completion Report.

In addition to the Phase I and Phase II efforts, PGandE has voluntarily undertaken a construction QA review effort. As a result of this effort certain items have been identified, and these are listed in Attachments II and IIA with file nunbers in the 9000 series.

A summary of Attachment II is included in Table 1.

II. Independent Program Requests For Information Seventy-six of 736 Requests For Information by the Independent Program remain outstanding as of this report ( Attacht.ent III).

Certain of the items listed in Attachment III relate to Phase II of the verification effort.

STATUS OF INTERNAL TECHNICAL PROGRAM This section describes the ststus of work in PGandE's Internal Technical Program being performed in addition to the Independent Program.

I. Annulus Structure Review The confirmatory analysis of the annulus steel structure is continuing. This analysis accounts for loadings from as-built mechanical equipment and piping. All members and their connections will be evaluated for Hosgri, DDE, and DE loads. The examination of the structure for Hosgri loads is complete, including the design of modifications. Confirmatory analyses of this structure for DE and

~ DDE are in progress.

II. Open Items Status To date, a total of 34 open items have been identified by PGandE (Attachment IV). No new items were identified during this reporting period. To date, six open items generated by the Internal Technical Program have been closed by PGandE.

Status reporting for each particular piping issue, identified as an Open Item by the Internal Technical Program, continues to be listed in Table 2. Status reporting for each Civil / Structural issue, identified as an Open Item by the Internal Technical Program, continues to be listed in Attachment IV.
