Dear Senator D'Amato:
Your letter of June 26, 1987 forwarded a letter from of Elizabeth Shafer requesting that NRC consider certain radioactive waste as "high-level radioactive waste." Ms. Shafer's comments were separately received by the Commission and have been entered into the docket file for an on-going rulemaking on this subject.
Her comments, along with other comments received, will be considered by the Commission in the course of our rulemaking.
