Dear Mr. Jones:
~
The Comission has issued the enclosed Amendment No. 50 to Facility Operating License No. DPR-40 for the Fort Calhoun Station, Unit No.1.
This amendment consists of changes to License Condition 3.A. and the Technical Specifications in response to your application transmitted by letter dated July 17, 1979 as supplemented by letters dated
~;
October 30 and December 4,1979, January 30, February 12 and 25, March 12, May 21, and June 26, 1980.
The amendment changes License Condition 3. A. and the Technical Specifica-tions to authorize operation at 1500 Megawatts thermal power.
By letter dated April 1,1980, the Comission issued Amendment No. 47 which revised the Technical Specifications to be consistent with the Cycle 6 reload analysis and revised TS for reactor coolant system heatup and cooldown.
Your request for increasing your current licensed power level from 1420 MWt to 1500 MWt was deferred pending further review of the staff and the Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards (Arps).
By memorandum dated August 11, 1980 from Raymond F. Fraley to William J. Dircks, the ACRS concluded that it would not object to licensing of Fort Calhoun Station, Unit No. I to operate at power levels up to 1500 MWt. A copy of the memorandum was sent to you on August 13, 1980.
Copies of the Safety Evaluation, Environmental Impact Appraisal, Notice of Issuance, and Negative Declaration are also enclosed.
Si ncerely, N
Robert A. Claft, Chief Operating Reactors Branch #3 Division of Licensing
