In order to increase the tire available I g l for operator action, a design change to provide an additional source of water 'to the I

m I service water pumps under the postulated accident condition is being imolemented. Thisl g g design change will add a service water supply line with necessary valves, control logic,1 ii g, ; etc. from the service water / pond recirculation line to the service water wet' pit.

indicates that the operator would have approximately 20 minutes available to take action to balance service water flow with river water flow if both units were-operating and.the postulated accident condition occurred.

This report is being submitted in accordance with Unit 1 Technical Specifi-cation 6.9.1.8.1 and Unit 2 Technical Specification 6.9.1.12.1.

The health and safety. of the public have not been affected by this occurrence.

4 CAUSE DESCRIPTION AND CORRECTIVE ACTIONS (Continued)

The design change will be implemented by mid-May, 1981.
