Dear !!r. Cintula:

1

Subject:

NRC Monthly Operating Report Cumulative Forced Outage Rate As agreed upon in our phone conversation earlier this month, the data f rom your files, which was received on the 19th, has been compared with the f orced outage data in our files.

The results are on Appendix 1, attached.

The suggested forced outage hours for use in future J

calculations are included in Appendix 1, attached.

If there are any further questions, please feel f ree to contact us.

b.

Derived from records supplied by NRC.

Note: The only Ers. Gen-on-Line data supplied by the NRC was a cu=ulative figure for December 1978 of 95hh.7 hours8.101852e-5 days
0.00194 hours
1.157407e-5 weeks
2.6635e-6 months
(compared to 95hh.6 hours6.944444e-5 days
0.00167 hours
9.920635e-6 weeks
2.283e-6 months
for CR-3 records). Since no data was supplied, the Ers. Gen-on-Line used to calculate both a. and b. forced outage rates is from CR-3 records.

I

 • The supplied value of 33.0", for the Cum. Forced Outage Rate for Dece=ber 31, 1978 could not be obtained-with NRC or CR-3 data. Perhaps a forced outage was =istaken for a scheduled outage when it was previously calculated.

The values for the Forced Outage Rate in this appendix for 1979 and 1980 Cumulative is not the same as the. values reported on the NRC Operating Data Report. Apparently, two errors were =ade in forced outage hours, one mis-take in September,1979, and the other in December,1979, which continued to this date. Data shown in this appendix was recalculated from the Unit Shutdowns and Power Reductions. on a monthly basis and should be accurate.

The close agreement between CR-3 and NRC data tends to verify the accuracy.

CONCLUSION: In order to insure agreement in NRC and CR-3 calculations,-it' i

is suggested that, as of 12/31/80, the cumulative forced hours out be set equal to 7900.00 hours0 days
0 hours
0 weeks
0 months
for both data sets.
