.7 CAUSE DESCRIPTION AND CORRECTIVE ACTIONS 27 iiioil In both failures, water was found inside the sampler wetting the detec-I ri s i i l tor and its connector. A broken signal lead at the detector was also I

gI found after the 10/1/80 a yt. The water aoparently condensed from the I

gi sample. Insnediate action included replacement of the detector (both I

mI events), cleaning and drying the connector and sample volume.

@SEDESCRIPTIONANDCORRECTIVEACTIONSCONT'D The source of humidity in the sampler lines has not been detemined.

No known leaks in containment were in the vicinity of the sample point. On 10/18/80 after shutdown for refueling, a general inspec-tion for leaks within containment performed by plant operators re-vealed no adjacent leaks.

It is assumed, however, that the general humidity level in containment was elevated by identified leaks in several remote locations. These leaks are being repaired during the current outage. The sampler has continued to function without failure since 10/10/80.
