NARRATIVE

REPORT Georgia Power Company Plant E.

I. Hatch Baxley, Georgia Reportable Occurrence Report No. 50-321/1980-047 During a review of RHR pump prior surveillance test data sheets on 5-15-80, it was discovered that on 4-4-80 RHR pumps "A"

and "C"

had been run such that the flow rate did not meet Tech. Specs. re-quirements of 7700 GPM.

On 5-5-80 RHR pumps "A" and "C" were run again and the "C" RHR pump was operated within required Tech. Specs. requirements 4.5.B.l.c.

but the "A" pump was not operated within the required Tech. Specs.

requirement.

Upon discovery of this error on 5-15-80, the RHR pump "A" was op-

, orated and proven operable per Tech. Spec. 4.5.B.l.c.

The cause of the event was an error by licensed personnel.

Personnel inad-vertently ran the test with a flow rate of less than 7700 GPM.

The procedure will be revised to clearly specify that the pump flow rate will be greater than or equal to 7700 GPM.
