NARRATIVE

REFORT Georgia Power Company Plant E.

I. Ilatch Baxley, Georgia 31513 Reportable Occurrence Report No. 50-321/1980-066 While increasing reactor power, on June 15, 1980, the Air Receiver Tank pressure fell to 150 pnig on the "lC" Diesel Generator at. which tine a

" Starting Air Pressure Low" alarm was received.

The "lC" Diesel Generator was declared inoperable and the requirements of Technical Specification 4.5.G complied with.

Investigation into the cause of this event revealed Clat the unloaded valves for the "lC" Diesel Air Compressorn were severely corroded, which allowed con ti nuous leakage on the air syst en.

The unloader valves were replaced with new valves and the "1C" Diesel G Generator was then t.ested satisfactorily.

Also, preventive nuintenance procciure limp-1-6450 was revised to provide more froquent inapections of the unloader valves.

This was not a repetitive event nor was there any ef fect:. to cublit htalth and nafety as a result of this incidont.
