Narrative

Report for LER 50-321/1980-033 While inspecting the Unit 1 CST s t a i rtra y for applicability to the new condensate transfer pump enclosure under construction, personnel observed that the cold joint between the original octagonal concrete base stab and the added concrete base slab for the retaining walls was lacking a watertight seal.

A review of the design drawing detailed a seal that was not installed.

Health Physics was contacted to determine if there was any history of radioactivity in the area inside the CST enclosure.

Their response was negative.-

The absence of the seal was an oversight during construction.

A maintenance request and material requisition have been issued to install the seat by 5-15-80.

This is not a recurring problem and has.

no effect on Unit 2.
