SUBJECT:
DAILY HIGHLIGHT CALLAW'AY At 11 am on Dctober 9,1931 Union Electric Company announced in a press release the cancellation of Callaway Unit 2.
The company blamed (a) the inability to include plant-under-construction in the rate base, and (b) the "ever-deepening regulatory morass".
In addition, the company's target date for comercial operation of Callaway Unit 1, recently extended to " late 1983", was re chedu',ed for tarly 19B4".
I have been advised by the company that the new fuel load date is June 1983.
