s SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION Report No.- 50-302/79-100/03L-0 Facility: Crystal River Unit #3 Report Date: 8 November 1979 Occurrence Date: 19 October 1979 Identification of Occurrence:

Core flood tanks "A" and "B" inoperable contrary to Technical Speci-fication 3.5.1.

Conditions Prior to Occurrence:

Mode 1 power operation (100%).

Description of Occurrence:

At 1300 it was discovered by Chem / Rad personnel that a potential problem involving core flood r,nk boron analysis existed. Actions were taken immediately to an: ' core flood tank "A" and "B" boron concentration. Further inve4 tion revealed that the r]nthly core flood tank boron analyses hau ..c . been performed on either "A" or "B" core flood tank. This event was reported to the shift supervisor at 1430. Subsequent sample results obtained at 1435 revealed that the boron concentration for both "A" and "B" core flood tank were within specification.

Designation of Apparent Cause:

The cause of this event is attributed to procedure deficiency. An error in core flood tank boron frequency of analyses was discovered in the chemistry surveillance schedule.

Analysis of Occurrence:

No effect upon the plant or general public. Subsequent analyses re-vealed that both CFT "A" and CFT "B" were within boron concentration specification.

Corrective Action:

The error in the surveillance schedule was corrected. In addition, a revision to SP-713, RC Support Systems' Chemistry Surveillance Program, has been implemented to alternate CFT "A" and "B" boron concentration analysis on a bi-weekly basis.

Failure Data:

This is the first occurrence of this type reported.
