Dear Mr. Romic:
This is in reply to your letter dated November 4,1979, in which you requested, pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, three categories of documents concerning the Quad-Cities Units 1 and 2 nuclear power facilities located in Cordova, Illinois.
In response to your request, copies of documents 1 through 15 listed in Appendix A are enclosed (total 221 pages).
Copies are also being sent to the NRC Public Document Room (PDR), 1717 H Street, N.W., Washington, DC and the LPDR described below. These documents all relate to Part 3) of your request, namely, documents relating to "all radioactive releases (air and water) into the environment since the plant's start-up".
With respect to Part 1) of your request, copies of the previously released docu-ments 16,17,18,19 and 20 of Appendix A relate to "all fines, penalties and nature of violations that have occurred at the Quad-Cities Nuclear Generating Station...". These documents are on file at the PDR and also at the NRC's Local Public Document Room (LPDR) for the Quad-Cities facilities which is located at the Moline Public Library, 50417th Street, Moline, Illinois, where they are available for inspection and copying. We understand you have previously visited this LPDR in lbline.
Copies of the previously released documents 16, 17, 18, 19 and 20 are enclosed for your use. Any other documents subject to your request which have been released to the public can also be located in that collection.
For your convenience we have enclosed, as Attachment 1, a listing of the categories of information filed in the LPDR. On your next visit you may wish to examine the docu-ments contained in files "13. Inspection File", "14. Inspection Folder",
"9. Freedom of Information Act (F0IA) File", and "10. Freedom of Information Act (F0IA) Folder".
Please note that the entries for Quad-Cities are marked with red arrows in the excerpts from NUREG-0521, " Radioactive Materials Released from Nuclear Power Plants" -
Annual Report 1977 (Document 1 of Appendix A). Also note that we have not located the second half on the 1972 (semiannual) report on radioactive waste and environmental monitoring for Quad-Cities.
Consequently, documents 2 through 15 of Appendix A, are report excerpts which cover the second half of 1971 through the first half of 1979 except for the above described segment which has not been located.

With respect to Part 2) of your request, we have not located any documents subject to your request which deal with accidents involving transportation of any radioactive waste to and from the Quad-Cities Station.
Finally, we have not identified any documents subject to your request concerning any missing or stolen radioactive material from the plant since its starting date up to the present.
