LER N0. 79-63/4T DOCKET NO. 50/317; 50/318 EVENT DATE 10/22/79 REPORT DATE 11/5/79 ATTACHMENT CAUSE DESCRIPTION AND CORRECTIVE ACTION: (CONTINUED)

Based on the observed levels of Ag-110m during August 1979, for an average adult consuming one kilogram of oysters per year the dost.s to the GI Tract and Whole Body are estimated atm l.6x10-4 mrem / year andm 2.3x10-5 mrem /

year, resoectively. These are very small fractions of the allowable 25 rRem/

year (GI Tract) and 25 mrem / year (Whole Body) doses to members of the general oublic, (40 CFR Part 190 Environmental Radiation Protection Standards for Nuclear Power Operations) and are considered to be of no consecuence to the health and safety of the public.

CAUSE DESCRIPTION AND CORRECTIVE ACTION: (CONTINUED)

It is anticipated that actual releases of Ac-110m will fluctuate as a function of plant operational history. In addition, an effort has been made to minimize the release of Ag-110m to as low as reasonably achievable. This effort has involved procedure modifications and personnel reinstruction.
