INFCRFATION NEEDED TO DETEFBINE CONFORMANCE WITH NRC ORDER DAVIS-BESSE NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION, UNIT NO. 1 00CKET NO. 50-346 la.
Cescribe the dynamic braking installation on the AFW turbines and specify how this modification is expected to improve AFW reliability.
b.
Discuss the ove* all reliability of the AFW system with regard to the operating history at Davis-Besse. Cescribe previous design improvements.
2.
Describe how the administrative procedure to remove ICS as a backup will be implemented?
3.
Di; cuss the adequacy of the AFW Tech. Spec. capacity relative to acc uent analyses.
Include consideration of recirculation flow.
4.
Describe the flow monitoring modification to the AFWS and discuss testing / calibration plans.
5.
Submit procedures for providing alternate sources of water for AFW pumps and for cross-connecting AFW pump discharge to provide water to both steam generators on loss of either AFW pump.

Discuss valve alignment and procedures when in the surveillance test or maintenance mode.
7a.
Submit operating procedures to define operator actions for accidents, where such actions have been revised as a result of responding to paragraphs (a) through (e) of the Order, particularly with regard to HPI actuation, AFW actuaticn and natural circulation cooling.
b.
Discuss backup alternative indication and existing redundancy in pressurizer level indication.
8.
Submit the operating procedure which discusses all indications to the operator for determination of PCRV status.
9.
Submit the reevaluation of the proposed steam generator dual level setpoint modification and the updated review of the September 24, 1977 incident as committed to in your Nity of May 4,1979.
