MEETING

SUMMARY

A meeting was held with representatives from Georgia Power Company 1.

in Bethesda, Maryland on June 13, 1979.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the licensee's proposed instrumentation changes for Hatch Unit No. I which are to be completed prior to operation for Specific items of discussion included:

Reactor Protection Cycle 4.

System (RPS) Power Supply, end-of-cycle recirculation pump trip (E0C RPT) and themal power monitor (TPM). A summary of the results of the meeting follows:

a.

RPS Power Supply The staff indicat2d that the licensee should provide additional

nfomation to that contained in their June 4,1979 letter.

In particular, the licensee should address the level of pro-tection and surveillance that would detect failure of the alternate power supply. The licensee should verify the Class IE design of this source and that the range of protective relaying provides adequate protection for the equipment being supplied power.

E0C RPT The staff determined fr.am its preliminary review of the schematic diagram that the design implementation of the EOC RPT at Hatch 1 is different from what has been previously licensed on a similar The staff stated that it would be necessary to review reactor.

Thermal Pcwer Monitor The staff indicated that the licensee should functionally verify that the ficw-biased APRM trip capability has not been affected by the addition of a 5 second delay to the existing logic.
