Gentlemen:
The AEC is developing a program of records and reports which will pro-vide accountability control over plutonium sealed sources in possession of licensees and provide current information to the AEC of the results of leak tests of these sources. Our records indi ate that you presently possess plutonium; however, these records do not in all cases identify whether the plutonium is contained in a sealed source.
We would appreciate your providing us with the following infor=ation with respect to each sealed source, containing 1 gram or more of plu-conium or 4 milligrams or more of Pu-238, in your possession as of July 1, 1972:
1.
Type of plutonium sealed source, such as plutonium-beryllium, plutenium-fluoride, plutonium-boron, plutonium-lithium, or plutonium heat source.
2 Weight (grams) of total contained plutonium.
3.
Weight (grams) of Pu-239 plus Pu-241, or in the case of a Pu-238 source, the weight (grams to thousandths) of Pu-238.
4.
Identity of the source manufacturer and the manufacturer's source serial number.
5.
The date and results of the most recent leak test performed.
6.
For what purpose the source has been used.
7.
The license und sr which each source is held.
8 It is requested that the above infor=ation be provided to this office within thirty days.
If you possess no plutonium sealed sorrees, please confirm this in your reply.
