Dear Mr. Hopke:
Mr. Robert L. Schimmel has asked me to reply to your letter about your plutonium-239 beryllium neutron With regard to clarifying your leasing source.
arrangement with the AEC, we suggest that you contact
!!r. Phil Craig, USAEC, Richland, Washington; telephone 509 - 942-7275, extension 64880.
Our experience with Mr. Craig suggests that you will have no trouble transferring your lease to a grant.
Should you have any further questions, we will be glad to help you in any way we can.

February 27, 1973 Mr. Robert L. Schimmel, M mager Monsanto Nuclear Produc.s Monsanto Research Corporation P. O. Box 8, S tation 3 Dayton, Ohio 45407
Dear Mr. Schi-al:
In November,1972 we were infor=ed of the discontinuing of leasing of our Pu-239 and we applied for an outright grant of the material. We are not in a position to pay for the approximately 70 grams of Pu-239 and yet we would like to continue to use this source. We havc. not heard anything further from the AEC in regards to granting the material. We would appreciate any clarification of this situation that you could pro-vide.
I have examined the source as you suggested and everything see=s to be in order.
Yours truly, w, -
