SUBJECT:
UNIMPLEMENTED GENERIC SAFETY ISSUES AT THE SALEM GENERATING STATION, UNITS 1 AND 2 (TAC NO. 7599j)
On April 25, 1990 the staff issued Generic Letter 90-04 which requested infor-mation concerning the implementation status of certain generic safety issues (GSis) at your facility. Based on your response to this Generic Letter, dated July 2, 1990 and supplement dated July 13, 1990, our own records and discussions with your staff, we have updated our database on GSI implementation status. The results of this effort were presented to the Commission at a meeting on October 25, 1990.
The enclosure to this letter summarizes the staff's understanding of the current status of those GSis which remain unimplemented at Salem 1 and 2.
We appreciate the assistance you provided in responding to Generic Letter 90-04 and we encourage your timely completion of those GSis listed in the enclosure.

Response is under-going staff review Suction line valve interlocks have been removed at both Salem Units.
By letter dated October 23, 1990, some of the enhance-ments committed to in response to GL 88-17 are being re-
- evaluated by the licensee.
Licensee's revised enhancements and proposed schedule will be forwarded for staff review by December 1990.
